I went cloud kissing, and I got lost in the clouds over the Malibu coastline — and there, in the blue, I saw her face. She came the way faces come in clouds: half dream, half gift. And she was looking back at me in recognition — as if she had known me all along — and I fell in love. I only followed with the pigment, pure Moroccan blue worked into the paper by hand, until she was there on the page, looking back still.
